To configure a 5250 console with HMC you need to configure a 5250 session. In the Connection properties specify "Use HMC console settings". The connection needs to point to the HMC, either via IP or Host Name. The connection port has to be 2300 (not 23).

You will also need to check the QCONSOLE system value. With the name found there you can check the Device description and eventually delete that. It will be automatically created if you have Auto Config on.

I have deleted the device description with DSP01. But seems not work, maybe the point is on Connection properties.

Connection properties (Client Access for Windows)
System Name = IP of HMC
Under Properties =USE HMC 5250 Console Settings
    Port Number = 2300
That should give you a "Console Session"
The port number is automatically changed to 2300 when using the HMC 5250 Console Settings.
Starting the session will prompt you first for the language. Use one that is correct for your installation.
Next it will prompt for a user and password. Use the HMC User HSCROOT and its password or an alternative user and password like it is known on the HMC. Next you will be prompted to select the server you want to connect to (iSeries System, not LPAR !)
Than you need to select the LPAR and type of connection. I use option 2 (connect Shared). After that you need to provide a session key. Once that iqs done you should have a Signon Screen.
Make sure you verify the QAUTOCFG and QCONSOLE system values.
