The List Spooled Files (QUSLSPL) API with format SPLF0300 will list spooled files and include number of pages for each listed item. That's probably the best way to start in a CLLE program.

It might be better simply to use iSeries Navigator to display a list of spooled files sorted by pages. Then simply select and delete.

Depends on when and how you want to delete it. Raven provided a good example. Another way to go would be in the program itself, You could make the spool file user controlled and only open the file when you have detail to print. When you have detail, open the spool, print your headers and proceed as normal. At the end of the job, don't forget to close the spool file.

Just curious, I did not think it was possible to have a valid spool file with nothing in it. You may have header data and no detail. I tried to create one with nothing and have had no luck. Where is this spool coming from ?

The solution I used was to do a usropn on qsysprt.

The program was writing a 'BLANK' line for a space between products and customers and in a couple places it was being written when it should not have been. So it created a spool file and when it was opened it appears blank.

    Thanks for the info
