elements of ROI authorizations (sensitive information)

diclosure of sehsitive PHI
recently a request for a clients medical records was denied because the records that the provider had contained "sensitive" information and the disclosure authorization did not specifically include disclosure of sensitive information. When resubmitting this request can a simple inclusion phrase regarding releasing sensitive information be add to the ROI authorization form or do we need to send a separate Authorization for sensitive PHI?

A lot may depend on where you are located. Different countries and states may have laws that protect a patients privacy. It may require the patient to sing a release to make this data available to you. If you are in the U.S. check out this site. They may have the information you need. https://www.hhs.gov/hipaa/index.html

Which country are you from? Basically it depends on country's own law & policy. So different countries may have different policies. However it is better to contact your local health administration of medial disputes. However second option is better.
