Hi IT experts, Does anyone know of a tool (or even a process) to edit an Excel file (XLSX) using Linux shell? Basically I'm working on a worksheet and I need to remove the last three non empty rows. Any help is appreciated.

The obvious "tool" is LibreOffice Calc. But it's not clear what you're asking nor is it mentioned which version of OOXML your particular .XSLX was based upon.

Are you expecting a shell script to delete spreadsheet rows without manual intervention?

What is the cause that you wanted to edit Excel file through Linux shell? This is really time consuming. While Open Office/Libre Office is Linux based Office software that you can use free. Just download/install any one and then you can open .xlsx file in Open Office/Libre Office Calc. This is an easy to complete the job. Or you can try a command line spreadsheet editor called Spreadsheet Calculator or SC. This can also edit excel files.

Are you looking to edit the file programatically without actually opening it in a utility program like Open Office?
