To edit selections of text in Microsoft Word 2007, highlight the text you want edited. Go to the Office button in the upper-left corner of the window. Click the Word Options button. Click the “Advanced” tab. Under the Editing option, check the check box next to “Typing replaces selected text”. Click OK. If you still cannot edit the text, check to see whether there have been restrictions on editing set up in the “Restrict Formatting and Editing” task pane. If there have been restrictions set, turn this off. If it is not your file, ask the file owner to turn off that option. Have them rename the file and work from the newer version of the file to edit it.
