Here is a short concepts, Coherent signal needs a carrier phase information at the receiver & they use matched filters to detect. While non-coherent signal does not need carrier phase information & use methods like square law to recover the data.

Thanks for advise and answer but you didn't get my point.My ask is regarding the pratical implementation on field.For E.G If I have 2 node of legacy (Non -Coherent)and 2 node which support flex(Coherent Optics).Answer should be like that FEC mismatch will occur,Lambda unbalancing will occur,OSNR will affect as Non coherent optics useful till 10G,40G and coherent optics works on 100G and more than.
If you are talking about concept,May be your are more good than from me but I want to add one thing which you missed,that in coherent detection Local oscillator is used to get the carrier phase information because according to this Heterodyne,Homodyne ,PLL and DSP come in picture.
