Having a dollar sign show up when adding a dimension to an AutoCAD drawing is an unexpected surprise for most users. The dollar sign is caused by XREFs in the drawing names. To get rid of the dollar signs, remove the XREFs. If your drawing requires the XREF, you can bind it with the command “bind -> insert”, which will keep the XREF but remove the dollar signs from the text.
