According to this doc: http://hortonworks.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/StingerTechnicalPreviewInstall.pdf
Stinger is coming to work with hive (0.13) for full support of SQL queries. In addition another advantage is the faster performance and in order to check out the performance advantage of stinger we also needed to set up tez. This was working on hive 0.13, has got tez on Hadoop's map reduce framework level so as to reduce the overhead of starting jobs/tasks and leads to faster query results.
Nevertheless hive 0.14/1.0.0 announced that includes all these optimizations of "full" ACID transactions and all these achievements. Does it also support faster queries? Or we still need to include tez on Hadoop's distribution or some stinger configuration?
What did I not also get is that if this is an achievement (acid transactions etc) of Hortonworks why it is given for free use to Apache hive?
Thanks in advance.
