Need a .doc extension for a document

Open your Word Ms Word Writes what you want and save file as 97 2003 word document it will be save as xyz.doc

    When done, click file and save as. Select Word 97 - 2003 Document.
    That's it. Looking at the file you may not see the .DOC extension. To see it, right click the file and go to properties.

    It is not cleared either you are using ms word, while tag shown MS Word, normally when you save any file in Word, it gets extension .doc, though you did not mention using word, assuming & if you are using open office/ libre office, then it's default format is odf/ .odt, until you save as it .doc extension.
