I am seeing this message from a lot of my users when they try and access the routing application within the AS/400. It has 4 options to answer the message but none seem to do anything. The exact wording is" Job 408069/ED/QPADEV0160 started pm 7/25/16 at 08:46:10 in subsystem QINTER Message queue Ed is allocated to another job.SSP0134 received by APPCL01 at 2:00 ( C D I R). I now have approx. 20 users that are seeing this message.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

The message is telling you that an object is locked by another job and all these users cannot get access to it. If you can unlock the object, you can take option “R” to retry and all should be well.

The detail messages in the joblog will tell you what object is locked. Then you can do a WRKOBJLCK command to find out what job has the lock on it.

Look at the source for program APPCL01

If you go to the message help and then expand it to look at the job you will most likely find out who has the object locked. Have them log off and the other can give the message an "R" to continue.  OR do like Mike said and use the WRKOBJLCK command. If this is an on going issue you may want to modify the code to prevent other from the function if it is locked by another user.

Is Ed (or any of the other users) signing on to two different workstation sessions?

You can also run into this if you have a generic sign on. We had a similar issue where we had a few people logging in with the account "SHIPPING". In theory a single profile may seem like a good idea but if something goes wrong you have no audit trail to blame.

QINTER Message queue Ed is allocated to another job

The system is telling you that any messages (for user ED) will go only to the first ED profile that's logged on.  This message will appear to any user with multiple sessions, or multiple users using the same log on (i.e. ED), messages always and only goes to the first user session logged on.

So 19 of your 20 users (using the same user profile) will not get any error messages - only the first one logged on will get the error messages generated by the other 19.
