When I check Task Manager, my disk usage shows at 100%. It severely lags my computer and makes it near impossible to use for work or school. I've tried checking for driver updates, doing a full malware scan, disabling windows search and superfetch services, disabling windows tips and tricks in the setting menu, and even booting into safe mode- the problem still persists. Help is appreciated! I put my specs below Intel(R)Core (TM) i5-3337U CPU @ 1.80 GHz 1.80 GHz 8.00 GB Installed memory (RAM) 64-bit Operating System, x64 based-processor

Have you ever checked msconfig from search box.(assuming this is windows, but you did not reveal). How many icons on your desktop. Remove the unnecessary icons from desktop. Remove temp file by typing %tmp% on search box and remove all files/ folders, however some may not be removed due to using by system. Run any good performance optimizer (, you can try avg pc tuneup, free) and check either this will helpful. Open add/ remove  program and delete unnecessary software/ tools/ games etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if you are running Windows 10.

Most machines running Win 10 I have seen will be using 100% of disk for a long period after booting, and there is not much to do about it. I hate it.

Part of the reason is the "compatibility telemetry" process, which cannot be disabled unless you are willing to get your hands dirty and start playing with the registry editor or using some third party application.
