Did you face any problem when you configure firewall directly/through GUI feature? Why did not you try to disable it from control panel it is so easy. Just open control panel and search for firewall on right side of search bar. It is also possible through registry, but before doing that, you have to take some safety measures. Have you taken back up of the registry. By any means, if the registry corrupted/misconfigured at the time of editing, this will lead to a mess.
