I think there is a thing where you can request your desktop from a central location and basically access your personal computer on a network from any other computer on said network. I don't know what it is called. help?

You can do it using Remote Desktop. This works fine as long as the network security allows it. Some networks may require a VPN or have other security in place. The was a software program I use to use years ago call Log Me In… Not sure if it’s still around and maintained.

Other than Remote Desktop mechanism, you can use Computer Browser service (services.msc) to send messages in between computers if they are in same network.

I appreciate the responses but I don't think any of them will work because the problem this would be solving is if Person A's computer went down, they could go to Person B's computer, log in, and they would see their own desktop. Kind of how if you log into a school library computer and you only see your stuff versus the last persons stuff.
