    Now apply similar case to two nations.

    Case in point. Take a look at the recent presidential election in the US. Russia was accused for hacking to change the outcome of the election.. And even further back there was the hack where Sony Pictures was hacked and some movies were released to the public supposedly by Korea.

    "Cybersecurity", the latest (and ridiculous) attempted rebranding of computer security/IT security/information security is today, in this context, a means to inflict or acquire political power. It's not unlike fixing the environment in the name of "global warming", healthcare reform via socialized medicine, and education system overhauls intended for the children. It's about control.

    So, yes, it can have an impact on politics - especially the international kind.
