I use Microsoft Office 2016 on a Mac. I've never ran into this issue but this just started after I did an update. My custom fonts are now available in the dropdown menu. I had them before the update. Not sure where they went. Has anyone seen this before?

One possibility according to Microsoft forum.

“It could be the font type, Word no longer supports Type 1 PostScript fonts with .pfb and .pfm file name endings”

Assuming you have downloaded the fonts (mentioned as custom) erstwhile and hope you keep them in a safe place while they probably are in .ttf format. Just double click on the fonts (each one) and It opens in the font previewer. Next click Install Font. It opens in the font book. In this interface, just drag & drop the font to windows Office Compatible to make it available to Office Mac. Before that check that if the fonts are showing in this location, control-click on Office 2016 app in applications. It shows the location, Contents > Resources > Fonts. Sometimes, permission related issue may cause for this type of problem. For checking permission etc. open Finder > Search box, here just type Normal.dotm. Next in File menu > Get info. Now click General, and make sure that locked is unchecked (checkbox). Again click Sharing & Permissions, and also make sure there is proper Read & Write permission under privilege.
