As CRTJVAPGM is no longer supported (with V7R2), how should we create a Java program? I have some Java programs written in eclipse tool. My RPGLE procedures invoke the java programs. I want to debug the Java program, and hence like to create Java program in iSeries. Is that possible?

Is there a need for creating a Java program with CRTJVAPGM? The command hasn't actually done anything meaningful since V5R4. You can review the i 6.1 "What's New" topic Removal of Direct Execution support for example. It's never really been a necessary command, so why is it needed now?

Which Java version is there? You can check by using QSH command and then type as, java -version. It shows version of Java. However version lower than 1.3 is no longer supported. For more information, you can link here: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/ssw_ibm_i_71/cl/crtjvapgm.htm

My only concern is that, I want to debug java program invoked from AS/400. For that, i need to have java class right? How do i create that without CRTJVAPGM? Using QSH?
