Hello, I can't do any updates on my Windows 10 machine (HP laptop) because it looks like I have no space. After doing some checking, it looks like Office 365 is taking up all of the space (I've had it for free for about a year). Is there any way to create more space?

To delete temporary files:

  • Search for Disk cleanup from the taskbar and select it from the list of results.

  • Under Files to delete, select the file types to get rid of. To get a description of the file type, select it.

  • Select OK.

If you need to free up more space, you can also delete system files:

  • In Disk cleanup, select Clean up system files.

  • Select the file types to get rid of. To get a description of the file type, select it.

  • Select OK.

You might also want to clean up some of your own files as well. If you save a lot of emails, delete them. Backup anything important like photos to external media like CD / DVD or thumb drive or even use the cloud storage options available. It's amazing at how much junk files we save.

Though about this a bit more...For Office 365, according to Microsoft site,  this min disk space is only 3gig. You would have to have hundreds of very large files to eat up all your disk.. If you try the clean up methods listed in this post and are still having problems come back and let us know.  You can always try a right click on the drive in question and check it's properties.

Also running the Defragmentation Utility will give you back some space. If you are using the Microsoft Defrag Utility, do not believe it when is displays the message that it does not need to be done.

Reboot in safe mode and check other than Office 365, what software/tools installed there. Now from Add/Remove program, you can remove other software/tools that are no longer use or for long time you are not using. Also clear Temp folder by searching like %tmp% and it opens the Temp folder, select all by pressing Ctrl + A and press Shift + Del keys both. That will remove all files/folders permanently. Perhaps few files/folders may not be deleted, as their service might run on background.
