    The CPU only does the functionality of reading and writing the data to hard disk.

    A CPU just processes commands or instructions form a program. No  active program means no drive access.

    While it could be done in theory, it's essentially not done in practice. It would slow the CPU far too much when it could be doing many other useful things.

    As per your query, simple reply is "NO". If someone write some script/ batch file that contains some harmful commands regarding hard disk and it starts at boot time then it can be caused to harm hard disk.

    @Subhendu Sen: That could be true whether a CPU has direct write control or not. It doesn't matter either way; it just requires a different harmful script.
