I need to count the number of days someone is out by using a date when vacation started and a separate date for when it ended and put the count of days into another column. I can't get the formula to count 1/1/15 - 1/7/15 and put the total number of days in column C. Microsoft 2010 Windows 7.

in C1, I entered "=B1-A1" and came up with 6 (given the dates in your scenario above).  So I would need to add 1 to get it to show 7 as the date calculation is not "inclusive" of the dates.  The more difficult part is, should this include scheduled off days (typically weekend days at most companies)?  If yes, that is simple, if no that gets more complicated and if you add the fact that and employee may only take off part of a week (i.e. Tue, Wed and Thur)...

A simple subtraction should suffice. If it doesn't work as you expect, give us more details about your requirement and why simple arithmetic is not what you need, and we will try to help.
