What kind of "file"? Streamfile? Database file? Display file? Printer file? Other?

    And "check" for what?

Are you just looking to verify the file copied over ? More details are needed as to what was copied, how it was copied and how is was loaded / restored to the server. To many unknowns for us to provide an accurate answer.

I'm very sorry for the general question asked. I'm equally not very clear of what kind of IBM systems the customer has but was told that they are transferring the contents of the tapes like LTO tapes & cartridges to the new system and had to ensure that everything has been copied from tapes to the system before disposing the tapes. In the event of disposal of the tapes, I must ensure that the contents of tapes have been transferred 100% and it has to be shown in document form that transferred was done 100% with error free. The customer site has more than 1000 over tapes & they are more that 5years old.

"what kind of IBM systems the customer has" until you know the details of the system then your work will be hampered. Try to get model/ make no and check on the internet on the based of the model. You can get details and this will make your job easy.
