How to convert SAVF to Physical file in AS/400? I backup SECDTA into my library and it's in SAVF format. I would like to convert it to PF, so I can query it.
I'm using V5R2

What do you mean by "convert"? There is no 'conversion'.

The SAVxxx commands over the /QSYS.LIB and /QDLS file systems create savefiles that can be queried with the List Save File (QSRLSAVF) API. You can process the output of the API to populate a database file if you wish. (The SAV command for directories and streamfiles isn't clearly documented to create similar savefile results, but I haven't tried it.)

What are you looking to query? As far as I know the save file would have to be restored before you could query the actual contents of the objects that were saved. Using Raven's suggestion you can find out what the SAVF contains.

    Thanks guys for your idea.
I might ask the question in the wrong way. I found a way to query USRPRF in my system.

I'm using this to create a file in my library and then query it:

    QSYS/DSPUSRPRF USRPRF(*ALL) OUTPUT(*OUTFILE) OUTFILE(ARIF/QUERY3)

It looks like you were just trying create a file with your profile information. Glad you found a solution on your own. The *OUTFILE parameter is in a lot of commands and will be your friend in the future when trying to get system info in a file for you to query.
