XP .If you need latest technologies choose Windows 7

Windows Vista is still better than Windows XP version of OS. However, it always still depends on the level of use of the computer user. Remember that the great features of Windows Vista also require high specification hardware devices for it to run smoothly.

Hi, XP. XP more stable than Vista. Vista frequent hang even i using 2G RAM but XP seldom have this symptom. I recommend using XP.

XP is far more stable and uses less resources. If you are going to upgrade Windows 7 is the way to go. Just skip vista all together.

I agree, I'd much rather go straight to windows 7 than even mess around at all with Vista. XP over Vista any day!

Windows XP is more stable then Vista and Vista Need more Memory at least 2-3 GB to run means need more hardware to run smoothly. Also if you want use Linux use a distro like UBUNTU is more secure and more stable then all Microsoft products :)... if you want to give a try use Wubi very easy to install and to uninstall from your control panel of windows.

I would advise you to consider moving up to Windows 7 at this time, at least professional, Ultimate if you need encryption. However, you did not give any information as to why you are considering XP vs. Vista. With both Vista and Win7 there are both programs and peripherals, such as printers and scanners, that do not have drivers for Vista or Win7. With Win7, you can download, from Microsoft, an XP virtual machine to run those programs while having an up-to-date OS on your machine. As an aside to Ratdogsue, there is no reason not to service Vista machines. They are not any more difficult to service than XP or Win7 machines, and they do offr you the opportunity to sell copies of Win7 as well.
