Instead of going to the AFPU (IBM Advanced Function Printing Utilities for iSeries) menu to print an overlay to a specific printer out queue (taking option 22 - Work with overlays, then option 6 - print) What command and its parameters can I type from the iSeries command line to print an overlay to specific printer out queue (by-passing the AFPU menu)?

Are you looking to just print the overlay? If this overlay is going to be used in conjunction with a program you can attach one with an OVRPRTF or add it to the spool file definition using CHGSPLF.

Where is your overlay image stored? How was it created and maintained? Have you tried printing it from a program outside of the AS/400?

stored in Overlay iSeries Library created by IBM InfoPrint.

(the printer stores the overlay in its memory,  and there are times the printer loses the overlay in its memory,  and then I  have to re-send the overlay to the printer via APFU to re-print the overlay and as it prints the printer stores it in its memory)

Wish I could help further but we use FormsExpress / Optio for doing our overlays. Tried starting AFPU but we do not have the utility. I was hoping you may be able to create a custom command.
