Command line access blocked

Command line
Our company has recently started blocking command line access for all developers and have created a developers menu with some commands activated by menu options. A few of the many commands blocked include wrkobj wrkjobq and wrkactjobs and they are not available to us on the developers menu. The reason those commands are restricted is because we could delete and rename the objects or jobs. Is there away we could have access to those commands without having the power to delete or rename objects or jobs?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

If you have access to SQL you can run some statements like this to dump all query definitions in library MYLIB

 SELECT * FROM TABLE (QSYS2.OBJECT_STATISTICS(‘MYLIB ‘,’*QRYDFN’) ) as x

there may be alternatives to what you are trying to do. Instead of WRKACTJOB to see everything, you might be able to use WRKSBMJOB to see jobs just from that profile. Blocking the developers is more of an issue. Why are their hands being tied? I can see restricting users but not developers... You may be able to do things with GRTOBJAUT or something.

Since you shouldn't have the authority to delete objects that you shouldn't be deleting nor to mess with jobs that you shouldn't be messing with, there's little reason in restricting access to those commands. Your sites' problem is that developers have much more authority than is needed. As a workaround, command line access is taken away.

Unfortunately for such sites, the command line is only one of many ways those commands can be accessed. Blocking the command only extremely rarely blocks access to those commands (especially for developers). Much more would need to be done.

As a "developer", what exactly do you "develop"? How do you test?
