You’d need to store that format as a character data type, because of the separator characters.
However, I don’t recommend storing a date like that. You could specify the format you want in Excel, such as YYYYMMDD, without separators, and have it output your desired format. Then you could store it in your data file as numeric and work with it in programs and sort it with SQL more easily. Or you could store it as a date data type, where the database would be much more precise on the required format, as well as preventing a bad date from getting into that field.
