What do you mean by "stop"? Every other job using the file will "stop" for at least a fraction of a second when one job adds a record. Pretty much every system will make sure that that happens.

But mostly a "stop" is so quick that you won't notice it at all.

What exactly are you trying to determine?

    Thanks for responding.
Usually our CL will select records with condition for a driver file followed by a  Rpg pgm.
Jus wanna know if the file is active and records are adding continuosly, will there be a time that the CL stop the selection process and proceed with the rpg pgm process.......

We would need to see the code and know if this job is running in batch or interactive. Can multiple user be running this job at the same time?

The CL is batch job. Only 1 batch job is running.
But the driver file will have records adding continuosly from some other online jobs.....
