How to Run Check Disk(Chkdsk) in Windows
* Open File Explorer and go to computer. Right-click on the disk you want to check (like C:\, and it is not in use) and select “Properties”.
* Go to Tools tab, and tap “Check” under Error-checking. To scan and Recovery Bad Sectors, only check “Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors” box. To scan and fix file system errors automatically, check both boxes. And then tap Start and it takes a few minutes. Once finished, click “Show Details” to see any found errors by the Event Viewer.
* If you want to run System File Checker from a Command Line, try the steps:
Right click any empty spot of start screen, tap All apps from the bar, and right click on Command Prompt to choose “Run as administrator”.
Type the command below and hit Enter:
chkdsk C: /F
