What file extensions did you download? They probably need a special app to open them. Are they video, audio or other type?

As the tag indicated a .msi file this is not supported on android. Probably, it is a game that you want to install/ play on your mobile or tab. .msi file type is an installer package file format used by Windows. It's not going to run on android & also, it's not designed to be a mobile app. You can search in google play store. Or you can try to run it on windows phone/ tab. However, there is some doubt, either windows phone could support it.

I missed the .MSI. That is the Microsoft self install file format. Is this the only file format in question? What are you actually trying to load and run on your phone? It may not eve be powerful enough for the application. Like SUbhendu says you may have to get a version from the app store, and it may not have all the same features. Besides if it's a file designed for a PC it may eat up all the storage on the phone.

Just install a file manager app on your device. You can also use Play store because most of the app available in this and support file manager, astro file manager, ES file manager, X plore file manager you can install any of this app.

Once install open the app and navigate to the file for which you want to change. Long press the file name and select Edit/Rename change the file extension and click "OK"

Changing the file extension name might be not work properly and may show invalid file type. Specially, android OS does not support almost all windows based file.
