That is an issue that I have dealt with all the way back to Win 95.  Your system is having issues with indexing because of file system fragmentation,  It cannot find all the file parts because they are so badly scattered over the harddrive.  It is an issue that is made worse because of the size of the files that High Def Resolution uses.  The system desperately needs to have a cleanup done to it. and then a defragmentation done to it.  Do not believe the Microsoft System saying that it does not need to be done because the Microsoft system can and will lie to you about it it.

Is your system up to date? Is there pending updates/ partial update in Update History? Is the search filtered  or some parameters ? Please reveal more details.

Had a similar issue. File search worked great then just stopped. Tried all kinds of fixes and non of them worked. What I did was move all my folders (about 40) where I had my data under the DOCUMENTS folder and now I can run a search on that folder. Not a fix but a work around until that drive partition fills up.. Will try your defrag  bhannah, never saw that as a possible fix.

Indexing works on knowing where all the file parts are.  If the system is badly fragmented and filled with garbage, then indexing will have issues.  This is some thing that I got from Microsoft Tech Support a long time ago,
