Hello, I've been trying a video on Google Chrome but I keep getting this error message: Couldn't load plugin. I'm not sure what the plugin is. I'm able to view videos on YouTube. How can I find out what plugin I need?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Google in order to cut down on security issues no longer support some plug-ins. You may just need to use another browser. Some of the older plugins below have been replaced with new coding techniques.

  • Flash already being replaced
and is getting replaced by HTML5 videos, site like YouTube now openly
uses html5, animations are now possible with css3 and html5 canvas.
  • Silverlight : Microsoft already stopping development of Silverlight and Netflix which is first user of Silverlight now moving to html5
  • java:
already proved too dangerous for Web browser, it usually integrate
entire application in Web browser, at the moment lots of development is
going on to entirely replace java.
  • Unity3D specially used for playing 3d games game in browser now being replaced by WebGL.
  • Google Earth plug-ins : again WebGL.
  • Google audio/video :
Google audio/video still used by hangout and other audio video calls on
chrome but will be replaced by WebRTC (real-time audio video
    communication)
