My mother notified that her motherboard (no pun intended) was damaged so I came over to look. I already removed the HDD so I tried to put it in a casing so I could get into the files. Everything was looking good until I couldn't open the files. It said access denied and I don't have enough privileges. What should I do?

Probably this is a permission issue. Try this one, after inserting into an another system, (it works like external HDD) right click on this inserted HDD. Now click properties > security tab > click advanced. Here again click ‘edit’ by moving to the owner tab. Modify the ownership of the desired account (like your user name & give full permission).

Also perhaps, virus might effect this HDD, so make sure there is no virus on your HDD by scanning a good anti virus like MWAV (this is an emergency scan/cleaning tool & free to use).
