On Windows 10, when I try to copy something to / from my clipboard, I keep getting this error message: Cannot open clipboard. Whenever I reboot it, it works. Why is this happening?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

It sounds like the clipboard may still be locked by another process that used it because of the fact a reboot fixes it. This can happen if you do a lot of cutting and pasting from multiple applications. The next time you get this error check to make sure you do not still have the last app that used the clipboard still open and see if you still get the error.

It might be the system freezes or freeze of a particular program. In this situation, the program will not respond to your input commands. This often happens when all available RAM is in use at a particular moment. You can open Task Manager and check which programs are running at this moment. Kill all the unnecessary programs/tasks. Also virus may corrupt files on a computer resulting in error messages when programs are launched. Make sure this can not be happened by virus activities.

Sometimes, remote desktop application can be a cause for that. If this is happened, close this application(s) & make sure that the associated processes aren’t present. You can check this by right clicking on taskbar, then Start Task Manager > Processes. Then select that process related to remote desktop and choose "End Process". After that you can try your task.
