My machine is running Linux. I've been trying to log into a remote server without a password using SSH but I keep getting this error message:
Permission denied (public key)
What should I do?

Too much info missing to know how to solve your problem. So, the first thing you should do is some background study on troubleshooting ssh permission problems.

For example, review Error: Permission denied (publickey) and Solution. Post back here if anything is unclear, and paste details of your ssh setup when you post.

When use SSH, keep in mind for the private key & the public key. while the private key must be on the system that you are SSHing from and the public key must be on the system you are SSHing to. That what went wrong, probably you don't have the matching key on your local machine. It is better to use use "-vvv" option to check or pass the command like:

tail -f /var/log/auth.log (on the server) & locate the errors when you attempt to login.
