I have a Flash Memory USB card and when I try to add or delete files, nothing is happening. All the original content is there but none of the changes. Why is this happening? It's not write protected either. What can I do.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

The drive is probably formatted as NTFS (default Win file system). Without additional software, Mac OS X can only read NTFS. You need to re-format the flash drive with Disk Utility. If you’re only going to use it with Macs, format it as JHFS+ (Mac OS Extended Journaled). If you’re going to use it with Macs and PCs, format it as FAT32 (MS-DOS FAT). Formatting it will destroy all data presently on the drive, so back it up first.

Probably virus can cause for this issue. Scan this usb drive with a good anti virus and make sure there is no virus. Or you can try this one with an another OS/ pc/ laptop.

Can you see the data on the USB currently? What are the properties of the file you are trying to change/delete? It may be you are not authorized to that file. If you cannot save a new file you created to the USB, is there enough free space to handle the file?

If it is non Windows system or Linux/ Mac, then virus detection is not required. You can change the port and try the same. Before taking backups, don't format it, while the data are still there.
