In Windows 10, is there a way to turn off Defender? I'm using another anti-virus program but I need to turn Defender off to use it. I tried to go into the Windows Defender option and disable it but that didn't work. What can I do?

Windows Defender in Win10 should automatically disable itself when you install most major AV products. Not all, but most.

How do you know it's not disabled? What other AV did you install? (Is it active?) Is Defender causing a problem?

It is disabled on both of the Win 10 machines I use. It disabled when I upgraded to the new O/S and displays such in the control panel. I have to agree with the other comment in that it should have disabled when you a installed the new A / V Product.
