When I try to open Lotus Notes, can not open it. The sign says "Unable to open Name and Address Book (names.nsf), due to error "File does not exist" Locations can not be used until the problem has been corrected. I do not know how to solve the problem?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

The best way to
do it is to rename the file then force a replication from a known good server.

If it is not too
corrupted you can do an updall -r and it will rebuild the indexes.

Try running
nfixup.exe against it. If that doesn’t work, try ncompact -c against it.

Note: ncompact
exists in all workstation installs. nfixup is not part of the client — you can
copy it off a server that runs at a similar NBotes version.

Make sure to use
the -c option with compact (ncompact -c whatever\your\file.nsf)

In case it didn’t assist you, then you may use professional recovery software http://www.nsf.openfiletool.com/ NSF Open File Tool

Is this a new installation, or was it working and suddenly stopped?  Did something change?  Were you having problems and someone "fixed" them for you?  Basically, notes.nsf needs to be in the data directory.  Depending on the version you're running, the data directory could be in a few different places.  For 8.5, it is c:\program files\ibm\lotus\notes\data.  If Notes thinks this is a new installation and can't find names.nsf, it should create a new one from the names.ntf template.  To force this, assuming you have a names.ntf file in the data directory, you can edit the notes.ini file and delete everything but the first 3 lines (make a backup first, just in case).  Then start Notes.  It will behave like a new installation.

Or, you could look for your names.nsf file and either relocate it or edit the notes.ini file to point to it.

What not to do: convert to Outlook, unless you just want basic mail.

Another thing not to do: give your money to any third party that would stoop to advertising in a support forum.
