I have a vague understanding of what this .log file is for, but I am trying to clean up an old PC with limited space and this thing is 2.6g. Can I delete it safely?

you dont need to delete .log files or .int files, because those are the kind of files that just show you what happened in before you installed/downloaded/reactivated etc. its just like a event viewer to show you what happened in the background right at that time when you did something.

Most likely it can be deleted if you need the space .Setupact.log is a type of log file associated with Microsoft Windows developed by Microsoft Corporation for the Windows Operating System. It's created when doing a Windows update. You can make a few changes to have these cleaned up automatically in the future. Check out this link for the discussion

I have to agree with ToddN2000 on that.  When you run Windows Update, it also creates a number of other logfiles.  Most but not all of them are text files that that have a log ext and can be opened in notepad.  The data that they contain is appended to each time that windows update runs.  It tells you what was installed successfully.  You also have some XML files that do the same.  And yes, they can be deleted.
