I am WordPress developer. I think wordpress is easy to used and this is very broad. If person have a fully knowledge of wordpress then eCommerce site can be make in WordPress . All plugin are availabe ( https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-share-buttons-analytics-by-getsocial/) and create custom function. I am also create eCommerce site in magento this is only good for eCommerce but WordPress is good for everyone.

And you can go to this website to have a wide view of Magento: Magento tutorial

Both development platform is easy to use and easily accessible for you. First we discuss about wordpress
Wordpress platform for ecommerce website is good. you can easily add new product and make list of all products also. Data base tables also create in easy way.
But main difficulty from wordpress is that if your e commerce store database is too hard and not able to handle form wordpress then your store website started to create problems. Next one is that in compare to magento wordpress is less secure.

For E commerce portal or store i will prefer that you go for megento on other cases simple website or small e commerce portal still use wordpress because its easy to understand for non technical person also.

Basically WordPress is not an eCommerce platform by default. It’s all depends upon your requirement. But you can use some free and paid plugins for shopping cart integration in WordPress CMS. Other most popular shopping cart platforms are available for your eCommerce business such as OSCommerce, zencart etc.

WordPress can be used as a CMS platform to build an e-commerce site. In fact, it is one of the most widely used and user-friendly platforms for beginners.

As mentioned above, WordPress isn't an eCommerce platform by default, but you can build online store with Woocommerce type of plugins. Magento is on the other hand is a complete shopping cart application, specifically developed and designed for eCommerce needs, though it's resource hungry and you will need a hosting solution as well to manage its resource demands.

Now which one is better? It totally depends on your requirements. If you want easy to use, simple to manage kind of website then WordPress would be the sensible selection. But if you wish to have a proper online store then you will have to consider Magento.

I would prefer Wordpress over Magento. If you see overall e-commerce sites they use WordPress platform because of ease in usability and enhancing capabilities through plugins.

If you are new to both then I would lean towards Wordpress. It's easier and there is a much larger user base. This means if you run into an issue there are more forums and users who may be able to help you out going forward.

Both CMS is good. But, WordPress has a slight advantage over others. Magento is good for e-commerce websites, while WordPress is best for all.

There are several advantages of WordPress over Magento.
    1. Magento requires developers to operate and maintain the website, whereas WordPress is easy to use for beginners.
    2. When it comes to hosting, Magento is quite expensive than WordPress.
    3. As I already explained how easy WordPress is, therefore customization seems a bit challenging in Magento as compare to WordPress.
    4. WordPress has tons of plugins that help in various ways whereas Magento has limited plugins only.
    5. In a web application development company, developers find WordPress more flexible and robust due to its simplicity.
