That's essentially how the system is always set up. That is, the physical server location can be called a "data center" even if it's not in a traditional structure. The logical workings of the system are the same regardless of server hardware positioning. And your definition of "virtualized" screens needs to be clarified; but it more or less fits with almost any kind of server access as long as data transfers aren't authorized. If you can explain more, details might be added here.b

We run private clouds in a tier III data center. Essentially we take all of a customers servers and install their operating systems and software on our blade servers and serve up screens of client desktops customized for every client. We currently have an opportunity that involves AS/400s running J.D.Edwards accounting software. We're not sure we can move the J.D. Edwards software off the AS/400 to one of our blade servers. To answer "do we allow data transfers" we can or we can prevent data from leaving the data center. Our clients can get their desktops on their smartphones, a browser, a thin client etc.. doesn't matter. So we're wondering how an AS/400 would play in this scenario. Thanks for your answers and feedback.

If your blade servers will run the IBM i operating system, then it can be done. (Info on implementation on IBM's blades)  Similarly for the version of the JD Edwards application set you'd be running.
