Office 365
I'm in the IT department at my organization. We have an Office 365 subscription that allows us to install it on five different PCs or Macs. But I just checked out account - it's been installed on 10 machines. How is that possible?

It may be possible to keep installing it. The problem is if/when Microsoft does an audit of the account and find the extra installs you may be looking at some very hefty fines. I have worked with a few companies that have had fines in excess of $100,000 dollars. It may be one of the reasons they don't prevent additional installs.

Check somehow if that installed off line also, however this is not just possible. Microsoft checks all installed through online and it is better to uninstall the software from rest/excess of the computers. Or this can lead you in a serious trouble. Also who installed all of these, the sys admin person or other one. It depends also on installation procedure.

My understanding is that each user can install on five different PCs (allowing access for a user from work and home for example). If you have five user subscriptions, it's then possible to install on 25 PCs.

However, if it's on 10 PCs and being used by 10 individuals with their own login credentials, it's likely that there will come a time when the costs will be an issue, perhaps covering back to first logon dates. And perhaps more problematic could be that related user data might become inaccessible.
