Blue screen on Google Chrome

I opened my laptop to Google Chrome and all of a sudden I get a blue screen. It also has a bunch of pop up windows telling me to call a windows technician. I can't use Chrome in any way now, I can use Firefox and Internet Explorer. I tried to uninstall google chrome, but I can't since it will not allow me to close the blue screen window. This is also a pretty new computer. The pop up also alerts me to not shut down or turn off my computer or my personal info might be at risk. It also says it may lead to data loss. The website the blue screen is on is Microsoft.windowserror.info

Based on what I am reading, I would be inclined to believe that you have a Virus / Malware or a re-director that specifically is attacking Chrome. I recently encountered one that was spoofing Symantec. It redirected you to a site that looked like a Symantec site, but was not. It actually was a phishing site trying to steal your privacy information.

What the re-director had done was changed the home page to the phishing site. I was able to go into tools and options and reset the browser back to the correct home page. I then scanned the system for viruses and malware, and then removed them. In some cases though, this will not work depending on the virus / malware which may need to be removed first.

I had the same issue. Download Malwarebytes free version. That removed it for me.

I only got the message you mentioned with Chrome, Fire fox and IE worked fine. Even stranger it said because I was a Verizon DSL customer call this number to get it removed. How did it know my provider?

Try to restart the computer and invoke as safe mode, if you will successful to boot in safe mode, simply uninstall chrome/ other browser plugins from add remove programs. It may help you to boot in normal mod and let yopu scan the computer easily.

There is malware / viruses and redirectors that target specific objects and browsers. What it does is infect the default browser and spreads from there. One thing that they do is scan the browser history to look for other points to infect. The one that I mentioned earlier had infected two browsers. IE and Firefox, so it was on both of them. It may also have placed an entry into the registry.like some of the ransomware ones do.
