Like mentioned below if it’s Android based you are pretty safe. No need for anything else. Just avoid the pitfalls of questionable site and downloading apps that are asking for permissions to things they have no need for. Does an app need access to my address book or pictures? No, so don’t load that app.

If you have android based tab, then no need to install any anti virus for the same, cause android is based on linux and this kind of handheld devices has built-in mechanism that do not need any anti virus.

Giving just as straight an answer, there is no "best" way.

A number of Android infections have been found in Android devices. For now, simple good practice that includes never loading anything except through the Google Play store is almost as good as protection gets. Until more is understood, it's not known if any product will provide meaningful protection.

But at the least, installing an AV product from any of the significant vendors potentially makes their Support groups available in case something suspicious is noticed. And if it results in providing a vendor with an infection example, everyone will be better off.

If you want to load some free anti-virus for peace of mind check out AVG antivirus in the app store.

Specially, in case of android based devices, there is no need to install any anti virus or any optimization softwares.

There are several android apps, that can be harmful, rather they use for good. People seems to be thought that, these apps help to secure / optimize handheld devices, but it is just opposite. No, they do not use for good cause, rather they create more complex / slow down your tab / mobile. Specially, any type of anti virus / optimizations apps like clean master etc. It is my experience.
