Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Like Michael said, it depends on the tools you want to use to manage it. The other thing to consider is what are your skills better in?

Welcome to ITKE, deccan2k! It's between either Windows or Linux. If you're using SQL or Access databases, you have to use Windows. If not, I would go with Linux.

There are different issues exist, when you use web apps & particularly using web servers while you did not mention which web server you are going to use. Of course it depends not only OS, also on environment/ infrastructure. If possible, please reveal more.

    Hi,

Answer for this question depends on your environment like which type web applications and web server was used by you. However, according to my personal experience, Windows is the best OS.

In my personal experience, Windows seems to be more widely used. If you run into technical issues, I see more help available in forums on the internet.

Windows may widely use, but as a web server it is better to go for Linux. However, more expert is needed for maintenance.

Good points mentioned here. Windows may be more widely used and that may be because there are more users of this OS than Linux. Linux on the other hand requires more work and the pool of users to run/maintain this OS are harder to come by than Windows. The last issue to me is security. I have always worked on a Windows platform but like the fact Linux seems to be more secure. I don make the decisions, I just follow department policy.
