Getting access to BAK files

I have BAK files that I need to bring into access as an external source. What do I need to do to get access to pick up the file?

    From where did you get the bak file & how. If it is just an os copy of an access database then there isn't any point in trying to restore it/ using the same. Assuming, the bak file is most likely a sql server backup. You can use enterprise manager to restore it. Enterprise manager recognises the db structure/ data & displays in an easily usuable format.

    I got the file from the backup of a Windows10 PC, backup done by Windows7 Backup/Restore. Then I used Windows7 Backup/Restore to restore the file to a different location (on a different Windows 10 PC).

    @hrhurlbut,

    You can do it by restore tool in Windows 10. Just open the control panel, select system and security section & choose backup and restore. Now click select another backup to restore files from & you can able to easily restore windows 7 backups. There are several 3rd party tool that can also do the same job, and one of them is 'carbonite', however it is not free.
