When I'm using BACKUPLIB command to take backup, in one environment, the save file name is coming as 'ABCAAMMDDA' and in other environment as 'SAVFILMMDD'. How is the file name being generated? Is the file names depended on any other system values?

BACKUPLIB isn't an IBM-supplied command. Do you know who provides it and/or where on your system it resides?

There is a BACKUPLIB command available via open source, but the code does not look like it is for the AS400,

I would suggest you do DSPCMD BACKUPLIB. On the first line you will find the program that processes the command. If you can find the source for that program to see what is happening. If you cannot find the source try the RTVCLSRC command
