Hi All, I perform AS/400 full system backups using go save, option 21 every week. Once backup is done, I'll give command DSPLOG LOG(QHST) MSGID(CPF096...etc) and verify how many libraries have been saved. I want this to be automated, can we write a program (CL/RPG) to pull all this information into a file every week and check? Is it possible? If yes, please advise. Thank you.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You could do a “DSPLOG LOG(QHST) OUTPUT(*PRINT)” then copy that spool file to a flat print file (CRTPF FILE(MYLIB/PRINTLOG) RCDLEN(132)) . Then just scan or parse out the data you are looking for.

The DSPLOG has no output to Disk directly, so you will have to output it to *PRINT and copy from there into a flat file for processing.

You might also try DSPTAP DEV(MYTAP) OUTPUT(*OUTFILE) OUTFILE(QTEMP/DUMPTAPE) this will dump label contents to a disk file.
