I have a MacBook Air and I've noticed that it has started to become very slow. And after doing some digging, it looks like it's because of of macOS Sierra. So I'm thinking of downgrading to a previous version but I'm worried about losing all of my data. What should I do?

Connect an external USB drive to your Mac. After that, it asks for confirmation. Just click 'Use As Backup Disk'. Go to Apple (left upper most corner) & click System Preferences > Time Machine. On the this dialog box, select the external disk and then follow the on screen instructions. Here is a good article from Apple: https://support.apple.com/kb/PH25710?locale=en_US

There are other way also like From Finder > Applications > Automator. But this is procedure is time consuming.
