This is more of a general question but it's a pressing one too. I've noticed that my HP laptop has been overheating when I'm playing games on it. The temp is going up to 79 degrees but it averages around 69 degrees. Just so I know, what's the average temperature for a laptop? I'm running Windows 10 and has 8 GB of RAM. Thank you.

You should be somewhere around 70 degrees C. It all comes down to power demand and the fans ability to keep the internal components cool. Laptops are notorious for heat dissipation. There is not enough room for sufficient air intake between the laptop and the surface it is on in most cases. Invest in a USB cooling pad with a few fans. This will elevate it a bit and provide much better air circulation. I pick up a cooling pad for around $20 on Amazon.  I play a lot of heavy video demand games like Far Cry and Skyrim on my lap top and the dedicated video card does draw a lot and make the keyboard get very warm after just a little more than 2-3 hours. Much better now since I invested in the pad.

Always try to keep below 70 C. For gaming session, you can try for external cooling solutions. It is better to keep temperature between 45-65 C is fine & comfortable for laptops. You can also try cooling pads for laptops.
