For security reasons, I use Avast as my antivirus software. I just copied an .EXE file from my work computer to my laptop. But Avast keeps deleting this file on me. There's nothing malicious in the file at all. It's for work. What should I do?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

It sounds like you could whitelist the file like what @Subhendu suggested. You might consider uploading the .exe to Virustotal to confirm that it doesn’t contain malware.

This is a normal procedure of any antivirus. We are also facing the same issue. If Avast finds the minimum/least security threats then it deletes/blocks the EXE. You can do one thing, disable Avast for a while at the time of copy, then after copy enable Avast, when it scans the EXE and shows/asks for delete, select move to chest (Quarantine)/vault instead delete (some settings are required for Avast). After that, restore the EXE to its suitable location from its vault and work again.

If it's a work created EXE file, ask your IT staff what is needed to install it on your computer. There may be parameters in place we just don't know. What is this EXE supposed to do?
