The jack may have gotten damaged or disabled. Try going into the control panel, and take a look at your audio properties and see if the sound card is recognized. If it is and the jack does not work try some USB speakers. Not knowing the specifics of your device, you might even have a Bluetooth option and be able to go wireless. We would need more specs on what you are using as in is this a phone, tablet, laptop or desktop unit. The make and model would be a plus as well.

Without actually seeing the laptop, I would say that the Audio Jack has failed on the system board.  Do you have a set of USB speakers that can be plugged into a USB port on the laptop top and tested that way?  If the Audio Jack has failed, and USB speakers work, then option would to use USB Speakers, If the laptop has Bluetooth capability then you could use wireless speakers, or lastly the system board will have to be replaced.

Have you tried to uninstall/ reinstall audio driver? You can try to check if that helpful.
